Remembrance in Class 1

12 November 2018

The children have been leaning about why we commemorate Remembrance Day on the 11th November and why poppies are worn. On Friday 9th November, the children wore the poppies they had made to the Remembrance Service in church, where they sat quietly and listened to Rev Sid explaining about the soldier silhouettes and in particular what we know about the soldier whose silhouette is in Holy Trinity Church. Rev Sid then talked about the cornet and showed us some of the calls which are important to soldiers. He then played the Last Post and we observed 2 minutes silence. The children were very proud that their artwork which was displayed in the church.
